My D&D game ran really late last night. Almost 1am. Unfortunately, though the mind was willing, the body is weak and I am Suffering today. I thought today was going to be pretty miserable, honestly, and it did start off that way, but then...

One of my TMNT fics got Fanart!! by a very lovely person on Tumblr and it is gorgeous.

Not only that, it's a whole part of a scene, illustrated, which is just incredible. And humbling. I've spent the entire afternoon on cloud nine and I think I'm going to be riding this high for a while. I haven't felt this energized in a million years.

Then the good vibes continued: I was brave and reached out to someone to collaborate on a TMNT Thing, and this person said yes!! I can't say too much more on it yet, and we won't be able to dig into it for about a week or so, but it's been something I've been wanting to do for months but never got up the courage to reach out and send over a proposal for until now. And I'm so very glad I did.

All in all, a spectacular turnaround. Sometimes it's worth getting out of bed, actually. :D

I love the cycle of inspiration for fanworks!! What's so cool is that it's fanart of my fanfic, which is already a fanfic of *another* fanfic. A beautiful chain! :D

The series this fic art is from is my current passion project, a 2k3/Rise crossover. This particular scene is 2k3 Raph having a surprise introduction to baby Rise Donatello. (The fic is basically the 2k3 turtles meeting baby Rise turtles. This installment is mostly fluff, but the series overall deals with a bit heavier feelings and is very 2k3 character centric.)

A crossover between those two must be so hard to do since the characters vary so much. Sounds cool!

So far I've had it pretty easy! The first 20k of this series has all been just the 2k3 turtles, and I have more stuff in the works that just involve that particular group.

(I feel a little isolated even among the surprisingly large number of People That Read/Write 2k3 And Rise Crossovers, in that I find myself drawn more towards the 2k3 crew and their relationships with each other. Most people tend to focus on the Rise side a little more because the characters just kind of demand attention.)

The Rise kids are just babies right now so it's been pretty simple, but once they start to grow up there will be a lot of different things to balance! Probably a lot of heavy editing to keep tone consistent and to remember who's in each scene.
